I've read that darn thing before but learned a few new things. Of course, I forgot it all when I went to take the picture, but hey, what can you expect, I've got a lot going on in this tiny brain of mine!

I wanted my first picture to be of Emma. Afterall, it's her pictures that I am going to wish I had more of and what better subject that a cute little ball of baby, right? So I scooped her up, undressed her and took this photo...

I'm not too pleased with the color and tried to adjust it in Lightroom, but since it's my first attempt I didn't fuss too much. I'm going to read up about portraits for the next go-round.

my favorite photo to date

I bought my Canon EOS Rebel XTi last year and in playing around with its many buttons, switches and other moving parts have taken some pretty good pictures. I had no idea how to use the camera but just started snapping away in hopes that something pretty would come out. Now don't get me wrong, I've taken some pretty awful shots too - ones that were overexposed, underexposed and many that were blurrrrrrrry. I had no clue what focal length was and couldn't tell you the difference between shutter speed and aperture. I don't think I even know now to tell you the truth.

But, since good ones are more worth sharing than bad ones let me take this opportunity to show you my favorite shot of all time. I'm embarrased to say that this one does not include my daughter, but in time I'm sure a picture of her will come along (that I took) that will squash the competition. Until then, behold....

I was with my mom in New Orleans touring the areas worst hit by hurricane Katrina the day I took this photo. It was late and the sun was setting. As we headed back toward I-10 I practically jumped out of the car to take this before the sun closed its eyes on this cemetery. It was breathtaking.

Life captured on camera

In the hopes to becoming a better photographer I have undertaken an online digital photography class called Through the Lens.
